JPEG2000 support added (require QuickTime player 7.1 and up for preview).
JPEG2000 delivers better quality/smaller file size then regular JPEG. Our comparison page is here
Moreover JPEG2000 offers some unique features (compared to traditional JPEG) such as lossles, ROI, tilling, multi levels (each contains an image with different qualities).
You're free to use any available encoder (free console - Jasper, Kakadu, OpenJPEG), PhotoShop or other image editor with JPEG2000 plugin - to convert cube faces into JPEG2000 format and then convert it with new PanoCube into a QuickTime VR movie.
